Groundbreaking for Jungheinrich new factory in Chomutov, Czech Republic

Jungheinrich starts construction of a new factory in Chomutov, Czech Republic. Sabine Neuß, Chief Technology Officer of Jungheinrich, along with representatives from the building development, local political and business communities, held a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday 6 May 2022, heralding the start of construction. A new energy-efficient and CO2-optimized building for reach truck production is under construction, with an area of approximately 37,000 square meters. The new plant will create more than 350 new jobs. The work is being carried out on a build-on-demand basis with property developer Panattoni and is scheduled for completion in spring 2023. The project budget is around 60 million euros.


From 2023, Jungheinrich will produce its current-generation reach truck, the ETV 216i from POWERLiNE, in Chomutov. For the company, the new plant is a key cornerstone in achieving the growth targets of its 2025+ strategy and improving its long-term competitiveness.


Sabine Neuß, Chief Technology Officer of Jungheinrich AG, said: "With our new factory, we are expanding the capabilities of our production network in Europe and ensuring at an early stage that we can meet future demand for continued strong growth in Jungheinrich material handling equipment. demand. We are building one of the most modern production facilities in the world in Chomutov, which will bring our production to new levels."
